HMS Petard

It was from the HMS Petard that 3 courageous seamen rescued vitally important coding documents from the sinking German U-559 that allowed British intelligence to break the Enigma code and shorten WWII by at least a year. Two of the young men, AB Colin Grazie of Staffordshire and Lt. Anthony Fasson lost their lives in the rescue. Teenager Tommy Brown survived.
